Department of Biochemistry

Graduate Program

The Department of Biochemistry offers program of study leading to the PhD and MS degrees. The department also offers opportunities of qualified and interested students to pursue combined programs leading to the MD-PhD through the medical scientist training program (MSTP).

Students may apply for the Biochemistry Program directly by submitting a completed online application and supporting documents. Alternatively, students may apply to the Biosciences Program, which is an umbrella program that includes Biochemistry and other programs in biological and biomedical sciences.

For full consideration submit a completed application by January 11, 2008. Applications received after this date will be considered on a rolling basis. There is no fee required for this application.

Application Checklist:

Complete an Application Form from the University of Iowa Department of Biochemistry (Online or printed form).
Submit online or mail the signed application and your Personal Statement to the Department of Biochemistry.
Request that three Letters of Recommendation, Official Transcripts, Official GRE Scores, and Official TOEFL Scores (if an International student) be sent to the Department of Biochemistry.
