Trypanosomatids are parasitic protozoa that are responsible for thousands of human deaths each year. The Donelson lab investigates the biology and parasitology of three members of the trypanosomatid family, Trypanosoma brucei, the etiological agent of African Sleeping Sickness, Trypanosoma cruzi, the etiological agent of Chagas Disease, and Leishmania sp., the etiological agent of leishmaniasis.
